Help me identify a bass! I played the most breathtaking bass today The tag on it says "Kramer Spector" But it looks nothing like a Spector. It looks like a vintage Jackson/Charvel look to it (P bass body with bolt on pointy headstock neck on it) And I gotta say, this neck was STUNNING! White body with maple neck and maple fretboard, matching white headstock. 80's EMG P/J's. plays and sounded like a dream through a Mesa 400+ and 6x10 Best part was that it only cost 350!!! Can anyone help me please? |
What did it say on the head stock? If it's a Kramer, then they just made a mistake. Back then, Kramer owned Spector for a while. But they were not the same instruments. There were still Kramers and Spectors, with very few similarities. Some Kramer basses came with Spector pickups, you you already killed that theory by stating the one you played had EMGs. For what it's worth, my Kramer from back then had a really nice neck. |

Here's a link to a page about the Kramer Forum bass. Mine was a Forum III. And it had Spectors in it. http://www.vintagekramer.com/forum.htm The little yellow word on those pickups in that pic (of the Forum III) is "Spector". By the way, what were the controls on the bass? Active? Passive? Volume, tone, switch? |

Leave it to Talk Bass. http://www.talkbass.com/forum/f8/what-bass-257667/ A thread about a pointy Kramer with Spector pickups and maple fret board. Is this getting close? |
3 knobs and a selector switch. If I remember correctly, Jackson/Charvel/Kramer used master volume/bridge volume/neck volume/ 3 way selector I do believe it had the same or similar knobs to my 87 Charvel 3B |

And almost all the way down on this Kramer forum page is a Forum bass (confusing with so many uses of the word "forum") with a maple fret board and Spector pickups. http://www.kramerforum.com/forum/sho...-a-Kramer-Bass |
Im sure they made them with maple fretboards as well...LOL...although, I have not seen one that I can remember so it might be a bit rare and could be a USA model |
