Help me! I'm drowning...

Well actually no I'm not really drowning....I've figuratively drowning in choices....

Jesus that was a bad start, lets try again.

Hello there anonymous internet dweller, I could use your assistance in helping choose between the basses:

1. Fender Modern Player Tele bass
2. Fender Modern Player Jazz bass
2. Squier vintage modified p bass
3 Squier vintage modified jazz bass

I am also considering buying one of these amps:
1. Hartke VX3500 Bass Guitar Amp
2. Peavey Tour TKO115/TNT115

Which do you think I should get?
Thank you for your assistance, or lack thereof.

Is this going to be your 1st Bass? If so I'd start with the P-Bass. I personally would try to get an extra $100 - $200 together and go for a Used MIJ Squier P-Bass or even a Bullet Bass. You're gonna get 100 different opinions on this. I recommend get to a music store and start playing them.

This is my first bass and amp, but certainly not my first time playing bass. I know what sound I'm looking for. A John Paul Jones sound, with the occasional slap, and something that can handle distortion well.

Ever played a Squier Classic Vibe P-bass? I like them WAAAAAY better than the VM ones and many others here do as well.

I'm serious
Both Squier Vintage Modified Jazz will work good for you
3TS basswood body and rosewood fingerboard
and natural maple body and maple fingerboard

Both Peavey Tour will work good as well TKO's 400w and TNT's
600w

But, if you could, go for natural Squier Vintage Modifed Jazz and Peavey TNT!

Enjoy and welcome to sheer (funky) fury (and much rock too)!

Cheers,
Wallace

I hear though that the TNT only outputs 200 watts, and that with extension cab it outputs 300 watts, and takes in 600 watts of power....will 200 watts be enough to play a gig (small/medium) ?

Don't know where you're lookin' at, anyway 200w is more than enough for rehearsals...

300w and up is better in club situations/venues

I mean: in church, where I play praise an' worship backin' a pipe organ three acoustic guitars and a choir, I use an old Laney Linebacker 15" combo worth 120w at 9 o'clock gain (compressor pulled) and 11 o'clock volume with Violin bass: church's natural reverb doin' much of the talkin' over there

Infact I provided guitar players with coherent 15" combos worth 80w

Whenever I play live or record tracks, I bring heads with me and they're all 300w

200w is more than enough in a rehearsal room and, live, if you're goin' to mic line or P.A. as well

Yet I'm somehow convinced TKO to be 400w worth and TNT 600w...

Cheers,
Wallace

I thought Peavey rated their amps at Peak power -

Anyway, for your bass - I guess the only CV Jazz is this one:

And at nearly $400 forget it and go Used Fender Jazz to sound like JPJ

Okay problem solved....It's 300w RMS, 600w peak. So it will only put out 300. I have doubts that that can handle gigs well....
