Why play a bass you don't like? Why waste time complaining about it. GET THE JAZZ AND SELL THE RICK!!!

Agreed. I wish you would buy something you can at the very least put strings on. I'm starting to doubt there even is a Rick.

This doesn't sound like an issue with the bass, it sounds like an issue with your own ability. I suppose some people are happy enough taking their bass to a tech for a set up, rather than learning to do this relatively simple task themselves, but stringing a bass? Really? If you can't string it, maybe you should take up keyboards.

Your second guess is correct; it's not any harder. |

Practice may help alleviates these symptoms.

Ricks are the best bass for everybody ... neither are jazzes.

The OP doesn't want help obviously and isn't serious about the fact that apparently he is unable to perform the most basic tasks involved in playing an instrument. Pissed off more at myself for being trolled.
I'm out.

| | | | If you can stand the cheap metal, uncomfortable body corners, and bad pickups...the Rick is ok. They do tend to be free of dead spots on the neck. |

So you're having an issue with f*cking up 2 strings at a time?
This is a weird thread, man. Stringing a bass isn't rocket science. |

- Put a 90 degree bend at the last 1/2 inch of the string.
- Insert into peg hole, the bend will pre-position the string.
- Wind. As you wind, make sure the string winds UNDER the previous winding to keep it properly angled from the nut.
- Tune up, and rock that sucker!
If you're using Rotos, use Long Scale.

| | Registered User | | | | | Seat the ball end in the tailpiece and then wrap it around the tuning post 2 or 3 times. That shows you where to cut.
Then cut it and string it up as normal.
I just found that neat trick after too many years so that's how dumb I am.

All the 4001's 4003's I've played just sang all over the neck. Since this is such a huge feature, I say the Rick passes the test. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
