I know a common complaint among bass players is dead spots, but I have a different problem: hot spots. It appears that my Cs (all of them) are extremely loud, while all of the other notes are at an even volume. Any idea as to what is causing this?
Also, frets 2, 3, and 4 on my E string are dead. Is this normal?
I'm no tech , but it sounds like there is some kind of overwiring thing going on in your pups.I had kind of the same problem on my Pbass and solved most of it just by dropping the pups down a little bit. I also had a couple dead spots (not all the same note , thats why i think its a wiring problem ) At any rate , a new set of strings and a slight reset of the pups cured all of that. There are a LOT of guys in here with a lot more tech exprerience than I have , so hopefully they will be able to help you out too. Try this for a cheap fix and if that doesn't do it , just wait in here. There are some real wizards in here and I'm sure they will be able to help if this quick fix doesn't do it.
