How can I find the year that my Hagstrom Swede was made

When I asked the guy at the shop that I bought my Swede from when it was made, he said anywhere from '63-'76. To this day I have no idea how to find the date when hagstom guitars were made, in the past I've just said it's a 1968 Swede. The serial number is 53-914033

For a second i thought you where asking how should you take your bass on a date. But in all seriousness most basses you can figure out the year from the serial but i don't know if that's set in stone for Hagstrom.

EDIT: Apparently not

I have gone under investigation and it's defiantly from the 60's i think but i can't get an official date. I know the first three numbers are the batch number so yours was batch 914 and this website says batch 919 was 1962. So it could be an early 60s.

I thought the 53 prefix was added later, in the early '70s, but I'm not sure

I just checked, the "53" wasn't added until 1973

Hmm this is getting tricky. Someone on an site has a bass with the same 53 in the serial and it's from 1977 so i guess it is 1970's my bad. Plus it has to be like mid 70's.

Yeah at this point I'm guessing it's anywhere from '75-'77
