How hard would it be to change the pickguard on a Marcus Miller jazz bass from...

...from black to tortoise shell? I think it would look awesome. I have the natural wood MM jazz, and I have always loved the look of tortoise shell on natural wood. Look at this tele for example: http://www.warmoth.com/gallery/image...rosell_lrg.jpg

The problem is the shape of the pickguard on the MM. What would I have to do?

Here is a pic of the bass so you can see the pickguard. http://www.lanshou.com/uploadfiles/p...2155429126.jpg I guess maybe I could order a tortoise shell pickguard, and then get the other piece cut? Would that work?

You can get a new pickguard cut by any good guitar repair person.
