1) move to a thinner string
2) tap
3) Use thumb position
Around the nut, the spacing is usually pretty tight so playing in that area is not an issue.
When someone unfamiliar with one of these instruments picks one up for the first time, usually they will have more of a problem plucking the same string they are fretting, rather than not being able to reach the thickest/lowest string. |

BTW, you should really consider my suggestion of calling it a "gigantar." It's a bass but it's got more notes in the upper range than the lower, and its gigantic.

Don't you ever wake up and think to yourself, "Hmm, I think I'll switch to flats today"?
BTW, I checked out some of your videos today, for the first time. You're rather good aren't you?
Respect!

| | I'm irresistible. | | Join Date: Jul 2006 Location: Torrance, California | | | Check my profile for all 4 that I have. I just picked up a Fender MIM Jazz RW/Sunburst to keep at work 100% so I can practice during my lunch break. So if something happens to it, who cares? Although, it is very good quality all-around for an MIM. I'm surprised. All gear was 20% off at Sam Ash today (Memorial Day) - so I got about $98 off the price...not too bad!
