That is not an issue with the bass, but from changes in humidity and the effects it has on the wood. The wood will shrink and expand, but the metal frets don't. That can and does happen on any wood neck of even the highest quality instruments. It's often referred to as fret sprout.

If it is a 2012 it'll sport the 60's custom shop pickups. If it's really $700 & something dollars that is a mess up & you should take advantage of it.

Well done! I just picked up a 2012 American Standard P-bass myself a few weeks ago and love it. I'm sure you will love yours too, especially at that price!

$755 is a great price, but are you sure it's a 2013 model? Retailers have bumped the price of the 2011 and 2012 models. For what it's worth, the capacitor on my 2012 blew after a just a few months and not a lot of play time. It's in the shop. Not sure if that reflects on the quality overall. Still, $755, I'd jump on it; I paid $1150 (and the resale price is gonna suck).

According to the Amazon page it's the 2012 model, I'll check the serial # once it gets here.

My avatar pic is about 6 years old. It was taken before I got my 2008 P bass. FYI, I'm playing my StingRay in the avatar pic. The StingRay now serves as a backup/practice bass only.

Sorry if I'm hijacking your thread, but I have a question about the alignment of the pickups on the American Standards as they come from the factory setup. I can appreciate the fact that the E and G string poles should be slightly lower due to the fretboard radius, but the alignment in your pic seems extreme to me. Beautiful guitar BTW. I just bought an American Standard (for a lot more money) and it was setup just like yours. What are your thoughts? MIMs and Squiers don't seem to have it that exagerated.

KILLER>..I have the 5 String Version...

It's perfect.
What's wrong with it?
NOTHING -

That price is insane. Whatever 'improvements' they make in 2013...it won't make a difference in terms of better or worse.
