How to tint a maple headstock?

So I'm aware that over time, maple will turn a vintagey tint naturally. But how can I speed the process up? I can't stand pale maple... lol. Do I just leave it out in the sun or something?

I've left my bass on a stand where it gets some sun every day for just over a year. (It's only on the stand when I'm not playing it!!)

It's starting to show some yellowing around the pickguard. Another year or two and it should look awesome!!
