I hate Craigslist....GAS inducer

I was trolling craigslist and found a listing that said "Beautiful fretless bass- rare" I thought, maybe a fretless RIC....but I clicked and now I wish I had the money....

It's beautiful but CL scares me. There's no recourse if you get screwed.

It's face to face and you get to look at it and play it.
The only way you can get screwed is if you let yourself be screwed.

I have met so many cool people buying and selling on CL.
I just had a real nice kid come by, he sat and played the bass I was selling for a hour before he decided he wanted it..

That's a good point. I forgot you can also sell basses to people in real life.

Yup. +1 to CL. Every time I've bought or sold an instrument, I end up talking with them for at least 30mins-1hr just about music. Most people are cool with letting you take the time to sit down and examine/play the instrument before making the purchase. And getting to see it is a plus. The only time where someone tried to mislead me was a Gibson Thunderbird for $750. Was a real T-Bird, but the neck was broken and he super-glued it back together, never disclosed this and it was a sloppy job - I just walked away. All the other +20 transactions were gold.

You just have to weed out the flakes before you meet them.

Just last night I got a email from a guy inquiring about a bass I have listed. Turns out he is a TB'er

That's a lot of knobs for a single pickup bass.
