I have an empty surf green pbass body... inspiration?

I'm looking to make the pbass to end all pbasses. I also like traditional looking fenders, so nothing fancy.

Toss up your thoughts please!

Thanks

Send it to the graphic artist who did my "turquoise stone" bass and have him do one for you:

A giant "Winger" sticker behind the bridge!!

But on a more serious note, I would have to have a big fat '57 P-bass neck with a maple fretboard, black tort pickguard, maybe a nice Hanson P4 Vintage pickup, a plain old vintage style bridge, and a set of DR Legend flats.

very nice

I'd suggest all maple neck with mother of toiletseat pickguard, vintage-sounding pup of choice, stock bridge, chrome hardware all around, flats of choice, done.

Little different color, but still in the color palate. I had an empty 'eBay' body... had it refin'ed Sherwood Green, added a Maple/RW neck, Babicz bridge, Lollar pups, antique pearl PG - then made it BEAD - awesome sound, and ended up with a very useful add to the stable... something to consider.

Surf Green... I'd go tort...

For me it would be a black pickguard, maple fretboard with black dots, bad ass bridge, and the nicest pickup I could come up with.

'62 RI pickup, white pearl pickguard, rosewood fretboard w/pearl inlays, vintage reverse tuners, and an ashtray bridge cover. How 'bout a matching headstock? A set of Fender flats will give you green silk wrap to go with it

Funny you posted that, I was just thinking about how under appreciated surf green is nowadays. I love those old pastel colors– surf green, fiesta red, sonic blue– I wish Fender would bring them back to their main production line. Those new 2013 Mystic Red/Mystic Blue models look like Squier Affinities.

Ok let's start from the beginning.

Do you want P or P/J configuration?
Do you want a preamp to give you some on-board EQ?
Do you prefer J or P necks?
Do you want maple, rosewood or custom fretboard?
Do you want fretted or fretless?
Do you want to go vintage or modern?

Looks we can sort after you've made the key decisions.

Tort guard. Birdseye maple neck. Highly figured rosewood fingerboard. Black BadAss bridge. Black hipshot tuners. Dimarzio Model P DP122 pickup.

Unless you want fretless. Then everything but the body is black with Mose Carbon Graphite neck.

My turn

I'd go like this:

bird's eye maple baseball bat Precision neck with 21 fret (last one literally suspended over the pickguard not to alter scale) figured maple fingerboard

Fender Seth Lover's "WideRange" chrome neck picup
DiMarzio ModelP main pickup
Pearloid pickguard and dual volume (no tone control)

Gotoh Vintage open gear tuners
Leo Quann's BadAssII himass bridge
Rotosound Swing 66 40/100 strings

That's what I'll do on that

Cheers,
Wallace
