I own 3, with another on the way. I fully understand your feelings.

Roscoes make your strings last longer, I'd swear!

I hate Roscoes......because I don't have one! I would seriously love to get a Century Standard 4 in black ash one day.

Yep - burled/quilted redwood on top of mahogany.

That bass is sick. Sick, sick, sick. Gard will tell you, it's one of the 'special ones.'

And wait till you see the next one!

Jon, you're photos are amazing. If Roscoe ever does a pinup calendar they should give you a call! I own three Roscoes and still believe they rank up there with any builder today and are certainly amongst the most beautiful!

Thanks, Chris! Actually, I've done some advertising photos for them - still waiting to see them out there....

Oh, and smperry - I'd be happy to post a close up of the jazz if you want...

Keith and the gang in Greensboro NC do build a 1st class bass. I had the fortune of meeting/visiting the shop and they do make some of the finest basses out there.
I will own another Roscoe in the very near future!

What got me was their line years ago about Roscoes being a P that sounded like a Steinway.

Jon, what's the top wood/finish on your fretless? Is that just quilted maple?

The fretless (on the left) looks like redwood burl to me. The one in the middle looks like quilted maple with some spalt to it.
