It took 9 days from the first email to nail the guy down to do the deal. Family emergencies and blizzards kept me from my prize. I must have sent a dozen each of emails, phone calls, and text messages. Plus a couple of hours on the road. All I can say is 'man did I score a deal on a great bass!' . And now without further ado...
This is a 1985 G&L SB-1! This bass has been on my short list for a long time. It is a beautifully yellowed white finish, 1.75" wide neck, and best of all, really old stainless strings!! The signatures are from members of Jethro Tull. And here is the killer part: I paid $200. (No case, but who's complaining!)

Yes - there ARE some great deals from motivated sellers. Recently I missed a Warwick Thumb for $600 and an Ibanez Soundgear 4 for $50.

I was really worried this one was going to get away. The guy had it on consignment for a while. He decided to move out of state, so he put this up on CL. I honestly don't think he realized what this is worth, although he knew he was selling it cheap. He couldn't even remember what model it was when he posted it. Being a 'P' guy, I couldn't be happier. Although I am sure I would have been just as happy if it was a L-1000.

Don't be prissy about the signatures you're never going to sell it
So play that thing!!
(And if you do PM me)
If you leave em on for a bit and you let the sun hit it a few times not only will the paint start turning cool colors the signatures will leave "tan lines" as they get wiped away so they'll always be there.
Or just goo-gone away the To Tom part and write in your own name.
WINNING

WINNING | The signatures don't phase me, at least not now. It is a bass with a history.
