Ibanez ATK200 or RD900 for prog rock beginner
So, I am looking at these two basses secondhand.
A bit of background: I am a newbie on a budget, looking to start taking classes by September or so. I don't plan to join a band in the short- or mid-term, just having fun at home and enjoy music a little step further. Already own an Ibanez SA120 guitar, and I am partial to Ibanez.
I have settled for a long scale bass, and came across those two. Both can be tested beforehand, but since I have yet to learn my testing would be pointless anyway. Plenty of pictures provided and basses are in very good shape, just the odd scratch or handling mark, nothing that I care too much for if the price is right. Plus, I will pick it up so at least aesthetically I can confirm beforehand that it is OK. I expect also t ask the owner to play it a bit for me since I can't for now.
The RD has Duncan Seymour's Bassline pickups, with rigid case included.
The ATK has the default factory configuration (soapbar) and also rigid case.
Finally, the ATK would fit my budget at about 200 Euro (~265USD), while the seller of the RD asks for 300 Euro (~400).
I've heard both in youtube videos and personally I am more or less settled for the ATK. But willing to hear wat you may have to say. Probably lots of things I hadn't realised.
How do you see it ? Any good reason why I should stretch my pocket and go for the RD over the ATK ?
Take the ATK and use the money to get a good amp !
I've had an ATK and an RD and I think the ATK would be the way to go.
