The only "sale" text that can go in your signature is link to a classified ad. You also need an ad for any items you offer for sale, so the pickup you mentioned a few posts back needs to have an ad in the classifieds.

Ibanez SR1015

I play a '97 SR1015...can I get a number?! Does anyone know which Bartolini pups/preamp work best for replacing the ADX5 and the Var Mid EQ? Having trouble uploading pics...

Thanks

Well, it's a six string, but yeah, I think so. I bought it used, so I don't know what the stock preamp is, but it's active etc. and I think the Vari Mid is standard.

I recently got SR506, and I am very happy. $300 from GC. Perfect for my small hands.

I can tell you that www.bestbassgear.com sells Bartolini pickups and gives their dimensions, so you just have to measure your current pickups for size and get the ones that fit. As far as which pickups are the "best" or sound a specific way, I have no idea. And I believe any preamp will work, as long as it fits in the body cavity and the harness has the proper number of knobs/switches etc. They have plenty of options on the site. I'm looking into an NTMB preamp for now, the 5.2 AP to be exact.

Hopefully that helps, I'm not entirely sure what you mean by "direct replacement".

Not a problem- just trying to keep things clarified for everyone

BTW, has anyone ever switched out the preamp on their Ibanez Prestige basses? My avatar is way out of date, but I've been using a Prestige 5006EOL as my main bass for almost a year now. I really like it except for the preamp, and the control cavity is pretty small, so I don't know what would fit in there.

The screw locations are different on MK-4s. Three instead of two or the other way around. Don't recall.

SR756 incoming today! It's about 36 degrees here today. Anybody want to chime in on an aclimation procedure?

Don't open it for several hours. If it were me I would probably leave it overnight and then look at it.

That's a bit extreme. Bring it indoors. If it's in a case take it out of the box and let it sit unopened for an hour. Then unlatch the case but don't open it. Let it sit like that for 15-30. You should be good to go. Finishes just don't like sudden shock.

It arrived about half an hour ago. I ordered it with a gig bag, but came shipped in one box. It may have been reboxed with the bass in the bag ????. My wife said the box did not feel cold, I'll see what it feels like when I get home (5:30 ish). Thanks.

I'm just used to them crossing the country or coming from Japan. If it came from MF then yes, a few hours is good.

Well, I got it unboxed, first reaction, not bad. The two pieces of walnut do not match, not that big a deal I guess. Everything else looked good, except the fretboard needs oiled. The relief was perfect, no adjustment needed. I did drop the saddles a bit to get the action lower. I have to admit that I'm surprised just how low the action can go. Plays great. My initial impression of the pre amp is just ok. Can someone tell what frequencies the switch controls? I'll post pictures soon.
