| | | | It would be wise not to mess with a setup ftm - let it settle in for a couple of days first.
Mid switch fres are 250 and 600.

| | | Moved from Part 2
Back Row Left: Two 1993 SR-895s in Transparent Turquoise. (One fretted, one fretless. Both have thrillingly fast slim necks) Back Row Right: 1994 SR 1205 natural finish (neck thru construction.)
Floor back: SR375f fretless (Not bad for $400 new but not nearly as cool as the 895 fretless) Floor front: 1997 SR 1205. Transparent Black. Maple front/Walnut back. (The 1994 is a bit better.)
All (except 375f) were bought used in the $300 to $500 dollar range. Busy modding them all gradually. Thinking about selling (or trading) my 1972 Fender Jazz hybrid ('72 neck and Pups on 2010 Hiway1 body) to collect more early 90's Ibanez 5 strings. Just LOVE These things. |

SRX400 here. Got it for $90 on Craigslist. Barely a ding or scratch on it! Gave it new strings and a setup and it plays great. Goes by the name of Gilgamesh.
Can I get a club membership number?

Yes, as long it's the same EQ mounted in a SR, the freqs are the same (so the Premiums/Prestige/Signature might be different).

| | Registered User | | | | My GWB35 arrived on Monday. I found it using "allofcraigslist" and two days later it was on it's way from Alaska to Key West.
It feels so good to be playing an Ibanez again. My first bass was a GSR190 and I sold it to a friend to fund a MIM Jazz. Which I ended up giving away, lol. My main player is still my trusty Yamaha BB, but I wanted something else to compliment it. I'm a huge Gary Willis fan and an even bigger Sean Malone fan. Unfortunately, the GWB's rarely show up for sale and even tracking down a GWB35 was difficult. Well worth the wait.
I must say...I am extremely impressed. I haven't found a single thing on this bass that I do not like. All the little features on it are wonderful and the sound is just what I wanted. It's strung with a fresh set of stainless rounds and the growl is just evil. I took the ramp off for fun and did some slapping on it and the tone is great. Whoever says you can't get a good slap tone from a fretless needs to think again. I'm keeping the ramp on but have it lowered down so I can dig in just a tad when I need to. The only mods I plan for the bass are sanding it down and giving it a natural oil finish and maybe a pre-amp swap. Other than that...it's perfect.

The only thing missing is the case, but I always use a quality gig-bag anyway. I have been looking for one for a while, but the few that surface in my part of the world are usually either a ridiculous price, or the electronics are stuffed.

Put in a Bart Pre and pickup. Changed everything about it for the better. I have a set of La Bella black nylon wrapped strings on it. Perfect mmmmwaaaaahhhhh.
I'd be careful about taking off the paint. Wood seems a bit soft.

Many/most people anchor their hand on the pickups. A ramp allows you to anchor anywhere, so when you play on different sections of the strings (for different tones) you have a consistent feel the whole way and are less prone to change your fingering due to otherwise not having an anchor if you move your hand around.

Perfect mmmmwaaaaahhhhh. | I've looked into the Bartolini NTBT as the stock pre-amp seems to be the weak link in the GWB35. I really do like the stock pick-up though. I'll probably keep it for a while and see if it continues to grow on me.
I'm definitely considering some flatwound or tapewounds. I have D'Addario stainless rounds on it and sounds great, but I want to see what other sounds I can get out of it. Quote:
