All present agreed the Ibanez is the shizz.

| | | | hey this is my first post on here and to be honest i have no idea how to start my own topic haha. I am looking to upgrade my starter bass that i havnt touched in a few years. I have a ibanez gsr 190. I want to start with the pickups because they are shot. I like the sr sound you get from the 500 and up. looking for passive pickups with a good attack to keep my sound similar to my 505. i know it wont be as bright but i still like that high end. any ideas?? |

So my suggestion is sell the 190 and buy a used 500.

Ibanez basses are way under rated and you can pick up very nice ones for very little money. It won't be worth your time and expense to fix one up. My main player cost $199 used.

Ibanez was the first bass I got to put my hands on and play, back in the day.
When I picked up the instrument again last year, this was the first one back in the stable (although the one my friend had was a 'DS' model)...his was an '80, I believe...this one's an '84
Let me know what I need to do for a number of my own. Thanks!
PS: If anyone has a lead on the original pups (Super P5, Super J5 - ?), please msg me - I'd like to replace the Barts in this one back to stock.

I had him put new frets in, reshoot the neck with nitro, add the string retainer and fit the pickguard. Originally it would've had ash trays with a white single ply. I got it with no trays and no pickguard, so I went with what I like!
Cheers,

If anyone has info on them I'd love to know. Currently I just think they're a mini humbucker of sorts that floated around the Japanese factories in the early 70s. I much prefer the look over what was in the fenders of time.

Right now I am waiting for this 87 RB800 to arrive. Jut scored it off of ebay. I have a set of original knobs and TRC just waiting for it. I think I will be searching for any 87 RB 800 I can find when I have some free dough..... then on to SR 800's!
Oh yeah I have am SRX2EX2 as well.

You'd think it's the same instrument, just with a different finish on, but in reality there are all sorts of changes made from one year to the next
