Yea, not a lot of folks have these yet. At least your in good company with Janek Gwizdala owning one but you know he probably won't be signing up for a number .

Ah cool.

Not seen these before.

Looks like they are making a bit of a more traditional spin on the AFR & EDA series.

Congrats on the Grooveline!

These are not for me though. I'm more of a BTB guy.

I'd like to hear one of these in action though!

bring it, number 1.

The balance is spot on, it sits perfectly on your knee. The neck profile is very different for an Ibanez, but its still smaller than a typical fender.

What are the pickups like? They look like single coil but I read that they are humbuckers.

I love the body style but I wish they did a model with a P pickup. Or a PJ at a push.

This is the closest thing to fender they make, if that helps. The pickups are hum cancelling stacks geared to sound single coil-ish, it would sound like a jazz if it weren't for the exotic wood neck. The neck is very p-bass inspired, with tighter spacing and the unfinished hardwood feel sealing the deal for me

I really can't tell you guys how well balanced and ergonomic this bass is, the second I sat it on my knee I knew it ruined most other basses for me. It is the perfect counterpart to my SR 5006 EOL in that it feels just like it but sounds completely different.

I know its easy to make big claims on TB, specially with as much GAS as i have been known to have, but i dont see a reason to ever buy another jazz bass again...i know, but i mean it this time.

My favorite store had two of these over the summer, and I know what you mean when you say it is comfortable. I have never played a bass that fit so well as the Groovelines. This is one bass that I would be willing to go in the hole to buy!

your review amongst other things led me to buy it. It is a bit expensive for someone who doesnt love the body style, but you cant just like it, its love or hate. Since i loved it when i saw it it is very much worth the money, it is built with the same components and quality as my prestige basses, and i know there has been some confusion but these are made in the exact same place as the prestige basses, they just dont have the prestige name attached.

I'm glad my review helped you pick a winner. I just hope to get myself sometime soon. People sleep on these because of their shape and the Ibanez brand name, but I would put this right up with any prestigious boutique makers like Elrick, Pedulla, or LowEnd. In other words, it is an excellent rethinking of the Jazz Bass, but not an attempt to make a literal boutique jazz. I know some would argue that a Carvin SB4000/5000 is more bang for the buck, but I say the Grooveline body gives it a great advantage because it has the great sound and otherwordly ergonomics.

I would proudly play and own an grooveline. I can't wait til that one guy who owns one decides to sell it in the classifieds.

Even out of that list id only put Pedulla above the Ibanez in quality or build, and even then it would be a very small margin and a very large price difference
