How would a low B work on a 28.5" scale bass?

If the string is big enough, a good B string should be workable.

It may also ship with a high C instead.

Are these even out yet? I've never seen or heard of one of these until I was on their website looking at hollowbodies. 28.5" is too short for me, wonder why they didn't go 30 or 32?" That's always stopped me from considering a Mikro bass before.

I could be wrong, but I thought I heard once years a go that the shorter the scale of the bass, the deeper the tone. If that is indeed true ten this could be a bad a$$ sounding 5er

I think it depends on other things like strings, pup's more then scale. Me personally, I think shorter scales sound fuller but that's just my opinion. My issue would be a B string at 28". Even at 30" I still have doubts. But a high C on a short scale sounds great.

If you use the same B-string on the 28.6" scale as you do at the 34" scale, you should notice a difference in tone. There is considerably less tension on the smaller scale, meaning a larger percentage of the plucked energy is put into vibrating the string at the fundamental.

I started my son on a 1/2-size electric bass (25" bridge-to-nut) when he was 7 years old. He's 12 now and plays 3/4-size fretless and fretted electric bass, and 1/2-size (38" bridge-to-nut) double bass.

I strongly recommend NOT getting an instrument too large. Do NOT buy into the "he'll grow into it" thinking. Instruments too large cause discomfort, physical damage and extinguish any desire to play them.

I bought the 4 string version for my daughter. She loves it. I found it to be a good medium quality bass. I am thinking of getting a mikro 5 for myself.

You could string it BEADG or DGCFA# or EADGC.
