I had the Ray34ca in mint green with maple neck. It sounded great, but I didn't like how the slab body felt compared to my basses that had body contours. Mine was also a little heavy. The finish and construction were top notch, though. No complaints there. As long as you aren't bothered by the slab body, it's a great instrument. I never owned the Ibanez that you're looking at, but I did own an SR505. Again, fit, finish and sound were great, and it was nice and light. The only thing that I never got used to was the short lower horn. It was uncomfortable for me to play seated with it for any length of time, and it looks like the 700 has the same body shape as the 500. Again, these may not be issues for you. Just my experiences. I may pick up another Ray34 down the road, though. One with body contours.
