Nice. A slab 62 neck...I'm pretty sure
Need to see the dots on the fretboard to confirm it's pre-CBS - they should be clay. I can gently scratch at mine with my fingernail and a little clay actually comes off like dust. Be gentle!
I've seen Squier JV Precisisons with a similar slab board design though, and it should've been a hand-written date on the neck heel for a slab, which could've very well been sanded off. Any other P would have a veneer board, mid-62 through current so that's a 99% positive the neck is real. My 62 slab neck:
The headstock logo is actually pretty cheap looking. That is not a Fender decal. PRECISION BASS is in the wrong typeface. Doesn't mean it's not a 62 neck, but could just mean it was refinished and that's the only decal the guy had laying around.
Here's a pic of mine (also a refin, not sure the decal was replaced on mine, but it's accurate for the era)
Does the neck have some flame to it? my 62 neck is flamed out.
The tuners are correct for a 62.
Bridge looks like a reissue- too shiny, but that's not a huge deal. I don't know what those Pickups are, but might be duncans or dimarzios or something. they don't look like pre-cbs black bottoms to me, and are definitely not grey bottoms.
No way to date the body from here. Not really sure what to look for, actually. does it have a pre-CBS router hump around the lower horn?
Cool bass, though. Hope you got a killer deal on it. I'd buy some real 60's Pickups for it and call it a day (depending on what you originally spent).
You always find cool basses, Dialog.
