I think he would have tried a Spector then found a luthier that approached him and come up with his own bass just my .02

Stuart Spector said that they only made 10 Jason Newsted models (JN-4). Wonder who owns them all?

I could see him playing a Wick or a Spector. I could also see him sticking to his Arias and Ricks.

Cliff was definitely the creative genius in that band once Mustaine left.

He would lead his own band playing the guitar.

He'd play a Warwick in a super group with Randy Roads, Dimebag, Rev on drums and Mitchell Lucker singing.

I was thinking the same thing about your initial statement. Maybe, if Cliff were alive they would not have gone in that direction.

I think he would be playing what he always did. Maybe he would have thrown a 5 in there.

This. Back then, Metallica knew where their bread was buttered. They openly admit they were following Cliff's lead, and he was the one who taught them music in a band setting. Cliff would've never allowed the Black Album.

With that said, I'd like to think he'd be a Rick guy. However, something tells me he would've embraced technology and experimented with different basses and effects. Imagine him with a floor full of pedals playing a Ritter...
