Ooooh! I changed my mind. THIS BASS.

http://www.electricalguitarcompany.c...s.9c941b62.htm

The Series One. Raw aluminum, custom MM H/S setup.

$2300. Not bad. Not bad, but not good either. #debt

My ideal "it would require an endorsement deal" bass would be a multiscale (35-32") Bongo HH. Ideally with a carbon fiber neck.

A Squier Jazz.... With a deal that included a percentage of sales paid to me.

I would likely not really play them, but just pose with them in guitar magazine ads while getting rich.

Loosely based on the 72' Thinline.

30" scale so the body would be about 20% bigger and 2" thick.
Hollowed top and bottom of body with solid center beam. F hole cutout.
Reverse headstock so E string has longest stretch.
Bound body and neck.
Maple neck and fretboard. 21 frets.
Tailpiece and Gretsch style Adjustomatic bridge.
Dark Stars. StellarTone ToneStylers on both pickups, Bourne pots. VVTT with slider switches for on/off for each pickup. Strat jack.
Teal green, white pearl pick guard that matches binding. Matching headstock.
All gold hardware including pickups.
Fender style headstock decal saying Nicola (family name) DarkCaster.

Everything is doable except the DS pickups, and it looks like there will soon be alternatives to them.

And, Here it is! 2012 Fender American Deluxe Jazz V in Transparent Wine with a matching headstock and gold hardware. Funny thing is, there was a time when I would never have owned a Red or any shade of red guitar. This is exactly the bass I saw in my dreams.

Stock '62 reissue P bass. The only think non-stock would be my name on the headstock.

Pretty boring really....

A Signature, huh?

I guess there wouldn't be much call for mine, since it would be a pretty bog standard P with a maple neck.

So not too different from the Steve Harris and Rodger Waters sigs, no?

I almost exclusively play a G&L now because my Jazz bass had a ton of electronics issues and would have cost too much to bring it up to snuff, but I liked the mods I made to the Fender.

Fender Jazz bass
Midnight wine finish
White pickguard
Thumbrest
Leo Quan bridge
Fretless rosewood neck
Seymour Duncan Quarter Pounder in the neck position
Seymour Duncan Vintage in the bridge position
And the greatest feature of all: priced under $700

If I became well enough known to have a signature model it would likely be...

a drum.

Doesn't count-- we're supposed to be talking about a musical instrument!
