Wasn't the truss rod so loose and the action so high that the neck warped from the strain of the strings, which were heavy gauge? Most who had a chance to try it found it unplayable.
I would say the same about Jaco's fretless, but that got a complete restoration job by Trujillo (with flamed maple top) - which I also don't like, but that's another issue altogether.
