Info on 1996 Ibanez SR505

I have played acoustic guitar for a few years have started messing around with Basses. I just bought my first bass, but I don't really know anything about it or if it was a good purchase.

After looking online and going into the local store to play some basses, I decided I liked the Ibanez sr505 because of the versatility and good quality bartolini pickups. I did not, however, have the $650 the store was asking, so I wanted to see if I could find something used that I could get sooner.

I found a local used sr505 on craigslist and went of to play it. It needed new strings, but it seemed to be gently used and have good action so I bought it for $270 with a strap and hard case. The serial number is C6031296, and from what I found researching online, it is made Korea in March 1996. I had no idea it was that old and have had no luck trying to find a manual or any info on specs and electronics etc. I am beginning to wish I had saved up and purchased a new one.

If anyone has any experience, info, or advice on this bass, I would appreciate a response. Did I overpay? Will I be happy with this bass for amateur recording and recreational playing? Should I try to sell it and save up for a newer one?

Thanks in advance

Naaa... if it's in a good shape, it's a valuable bass

It should be maple with DX5 passive soapbars and VariMid active equalizer

Its only weak point could be the care and resistance of its crowded electronic cavity... the reason why I parted ways with a MIK '99 Sr405 in... 2006... after full recordings and gigs.

I think the price is acceptable and, if you don't mind to screw its cavity out whenever you need to change 9v battery (no independent cavity and removable cover for it) you're good to go

Nice score to me

Cheers,
Wallace
