Two weeks ago, I installed a pickguardian bridge pickup plate and pickup guard on my rickenbacker 4003. It did not come with instructions nor was I able to find much info on the install.
My first go, I installed it leaving off the rubber washers/springs. The pickup was a bit to high for my action like that plus lacked the ability to adjust it.
I also tried it with a set of rubber washers and no springs, this was better for the pup height, but still did not allow for much adjustment.
I tried it with the original springs, this made the pup way too low.
My end soltuion was the cut the springs shorter and install the rubber washers as well. I can now adjust the pup hight easily. I thought posting this information might help others in their installs.
