The neck is super-smooth (fact) and they look incredibly sharp (opinion).
Normally they're $800, but right now Fender/Squier is authorizing sales on most of their models, so right now it's going for $700. I know it's $100 more than your, but if you like what you see, it might be worth the extra mile. A used one will very likely be $600 or less (I got mine for $376, shipped).

Neck slimness is a personal preference thing. Nothing is thinner than an Ibanez neck, but they tend to be more bright than warm-sounding. If you look at Ibanez look at a mahogany body model, and be prepared EQ out that brightness - or spend a bunch more upgrading the electronics.
