I would like to restate my experience that out of all the options mentioned, LTD is probably the best quality and value in that price range. YMMV.

I have seen a Warwick Vampyre online at Guitar Center under the Used Gear category. It was selling for under $350.00. The Item # is 108306739

Another vote for Ibanez SR500. SR600 for $650 at GC. Both have an active (same) 3band EQ w/Bart system. Quality bass ... I have one.

I have an Ibanez SR400QM and I would have to say you should buy an Ibanez, nice neck, and they don't look half bad

Fender Aerodyne Jazz Bass

How 'bout a used Fender Aerodyne Jazz Bass? Here's mine;

The neck is super-smooth (fact) and they look incredibly sharp (opinion).

Normally they're $800, but right now Fender/Squier is authorizing sales on most of their models, so right now it's going for $700. I know it's $100 more than your, but if you like what you see, it might be worth the extra mile. A used one will very likely be $600 or less (I got mine for $376, shipped).

I felt a great disturbance in Las Vegas…as if thousands of Elvis impersonators cried out and then suddenly left the building.

That's got the edgy body shape, but the neck on any Warwick is SUPER thick.

Used Spector Legend or Rebop from GuitarCenter. They have TONS and they're cheap & great instruments.

For tone, used Spector Legend or Rebop.

Neck slimness is a personal preference thing. Nothing is thinner than an Ibanez neck, but they tend to be more bright than warm-sounding. If you look at Ibanez look at a mahogany body model, and be prepared EQ out that brightness - or spend a bunch more upgrading the electronics.
