if this is directed for me, the pups them selves actually got rusty somehow...or more correctly, corroded (sp?). The bass went through a couple of instances of being soaked in beer/soda back in the day. They would cut in and out, and finally just quit working. I didn't replace the pre-amp (I don't think...my friend did the work, and he is a very well established guitar tech for a major label artist so I trust him) and at least he did not tell me that he did....

ya it was irons, and ok soda, beer, water...ya that would do it.
if he put EMG's in and not EMGHZ's then ya the OEM preamp is gone....

I think they are regular EMG's...either way, it sounds way better. The EMG's have a bit more "bass" or body than the original pups....

are you still giving out numbers, or can we just be in the club...

funny thing was I never started the club....you know how it is a number is a number but who needs a number to show your proud to own a specific unit right?

my sig has no number but it shows I have been a member of the jackson club long before TB.com was thought up.

i have a lot of club numbers but took them out of my sig so long ago I don't even remember them all. Kinda cool to say "I'm part of so-and-so club" but not a necessity.

When it comes to Jackson stuff, everyone who has been here a while knows I'm the guy to come to for answers

yep, that's why I did. I am sure that I will have more in the future. Actually, just thought of one now...I want to add a hipshot D tuner to mine. Which kind do I get?

I got it for free when I bought a lefty bass off one of the employees at hipshot, but those things are like 60-80 bucks on ebay for righty uses all day. I was going to toss it on one of mine, but I have tuned to DGCF as the standard for years, so it would be pointless unless I sold the bass with it on it for the next person.

Amimbari was curious about my Futura XL in my sale thread, but I closed it following a trade deal so I thought I'd post here too. He'd never seen a W designation, and I don't know anything about Jackson basses so it's a mystery to me as well. But there it is.

Edit: I was told the W may stand for 'wide neck', so just for reference

Nut: 1 5/8 "
12th Fret: 2 3/16"

never saw that before

neck specs according to your description is standard to everything pretty much Jackson ever made. I'll ask around and see what happens in the other forums also so we all know.

I have seen basses stamped "used" and "U" for used but I have no idea what "W" would stand for

the only thing I could think it would be remotely close to is that in 91 the wingerBass was not a reality yet. ( NT with lacewood ), BUT.... It could have been designated for the winger of 92.. I just don't know.

ok I am getting all kinds of guesses other places, BUT one guy said it "could" have been stamped like that for the unit going in for warranty repair, just like a blem or factory 2nd that has it on the headstock....

I haven't given up yet, but that DOES sound logical.
