I believe Robert payed big money to get bass from a private owner.
Not sure of the figure ? I heard $60.000-$80.000.
So I understand why Robert should keep it. |

Was there an album of Tunes recorded by players with this bass yet? Just wonderin'

So true.
None of the CS Reissues come close to that tone.
It's got magic for sure. |

if someone is playing the original (restored) Jaco doom bass via amplifier on a fair - everybody in the whole room has to switch off their amps, just hearing reverent!
Plus: I always wonder since they restored it, why they gave it that kind of body top paint.
A 3 tone sunburst would have been better.
My 2 cents.

I'm sure he thinks so, but I'm not sold yet.

I guess I am just too cynical....

I imagine he's already done his share of wailing on it.

Ultimately, it (re) surfaced at 30th St. Guitars in NYC from a mystery seller and 30th St just happened to find out what they had (after supposedly not knowing any better). After which, they made it public and whored it out in one sitting to several very prominent bassists. Then came the legal battle. The back of the headstock, provenance, and legal battle that followed pretty much make for a very hard to fake story.

I always thought the rebuilding happened after his death.
I only knew his bass this style: http://www.gophoto.it/view.php?i=htt...g#.URCIYmeOfwA
And I saw him with that live on stage.
So - the new colour is "original Jaco" - but I don't like it. ;-)
Greetz and thx 4 the link
