Jaguar vs Mustang

In the Fenders, what are the main differences between Jaguars and Mustangs? I know Jaguars have those thousands of knobs that allow for a crap load of sounds, but what about the mustang?

They're both Fenders with four strings, a body, and a neck. That's about all they have in common. A Mustang is short scale. The Fender Jags with all the controls are regular scale. A Mustang has one split pickup, tone & volume control. Beyond that, it's a matter of what you prefer as a player.

The Mustangs are a short scale (30") bass with a P-like pickup. The Fender Deluxe Jaguar (The one with those thousands of knobs) is a 34" scale with 2 J pickups in a 70s-ish spacing. The bridge pickup is a 1/2" closer to the bridge than a standard J and the neck is a 1/4" closer to the neck. This bass has an active 2 band preamp.
Then there's the Squire Modified Jag, also with a 34" scale, that has a P-J setup, along with a Squire Modified Jag Short Scale that has a 30" scale.
