Jazz Bass 5 with no trench?

Just wondering if anyone out there has encountered a 5 string Jazz without excess routing, so that the pickguard can be removed. Fender Australia has n idea and no interest in finding out.

You can purchase a body from Warmoth, or a builder to suit this desire. I am not aware of one from Fender lately, but I am not a Fender expert

Sadowsky will build you a real nice one.

Well, they made some like this one. American Jazz Deluxe FMT V.

The most common alternative option you'll find is a rear routed control cavity. I'm not sure if Fender ever made anything in the vein of the Jaco signature bass in a 5 string model. Warmoth is a good option too!

Having just browsed Stratosphere's eBay catalogue; I can't see any bodies without the excess routing. (MIA Deluxe, MIA Standard, Deluxe Active, Standard)

90s Fender Jazz Plus V

If the B string had been better I never would have parted with mine.

The Squier Affinity Jazz V (alder body) doesn't have the big route and can be used with just a control plate. Believe it or not! But it does have screw holes.

Also the Squier Deluxe Jazz V doesn't have any front routing. But it is a basswood body.

All the best, Bob
