Jazz Bass fingerstyle & slap output level
I got a question about my Marcus Miller sig. Japanese Jazz, which I love very much but...
I own and play four basses: A Ric 4003, the Fender Jazz, Fender P and the amazing Warwick Dolphin Pro1.
When I switch from fingerstyle to slapping or using a pick, on the other three basses the output doesn't get that much higher and I don't really need a compressor to level it.
On the Jazz, the slap output is more then twice as loud as the fingerstyle output. How can I fix this? Pickup height comes to mind but I don't know if this will do the trick and I really love the tone of this Jazz as is.
Right now I just squeeze the living sh*t out of it with a comp to make the rest of the band not hate me.
Thanks for all the great help!
You could roll the tone knob back a little or roll back the highs on your amp but I would say a compressor is the better solution personally, maybe a limiter instead.
