Jazz Basses with P necks?

Just wondering how many people buck the trend, and put P-bass necks on their Jazz bodies...

I just scored a fretted Precision neck, in trade for the fretless neck off my Jazz. I'm really loving the beefy feel in my hand, and the extra room to maneuver. I can get a more expressive vibrato than I could with the old pencil neck...

That's definitely bucking the trend. Most do the opposite.

True, but it seems really logical to me.

One size does not fit all. At 6' 2", 230lb and size 13 shoes, it's not like I need skinny necks on my basses to solve a reach problem.

Maybe it's just my big meat hooks, but I hate pencil necks.

I don't know if it's the extra lumber in the neck, or simply that my big fingers have more room for vibrato, shakes and bends, etc. Whatever it is, I find that I get a bigger, more expressive tone when I play basses with wider spacing at the nut.

My favourite P-bass was an early 2000's AVRI '62. 1.75" at the nut for only 4 strings. It felt like slipping on a favourite pair of carpet slippers!

And it's not like the Squire CV Precision is a baseball bat. It's only a fraction wider and deeper than the VM Jazz neck...

Yea, gotta love the beefy feel. I put a p neck on my jazz and I don't regret it
