I have one of these and think they actually look much better in person. I've so fallen in love with the Casady sound for my needs, that I'm debating adding number three...when I'm out of the woods financially that is. I have a Goldtop for Standard/Drop D tuning, a Silverburst for Eb/Drop C#, and would like to add an Ebony for D/Drop C. As a bonus, the Casadys are a great choice for Overdrive/Fuzz guys!

A buddy of mine has one of the gold finished ones and he loves it!

Last night I was checking various things out on You Tube, one thing lead to another and I checked out some of McCartneys performance at the 12-12-12 benefit concert. For the 2nd song (Let Me Roll It) Paul played guitar and the guitarist who doubles on bass (Brian?) played a gold Jack Cassidy model. Sounded great!!

Hi Ian -

I inquired about the strings and this is what I was told...

Hello Joe,

They use both D’Addario and Ernie Ball strings depending upon availability.

Thank you for the inquiry.

Best regards,

They are nickel-wounds.

Try the Dean Markley Blue Steels. They really suit the bass. I've been using them for years on mine for rock, R&B, blues, jazz, and even some avant garde stuff. It's a remarkable match for a tonally flexible instrument.

You should check out some of the stone roses reunion footage.... On one of them the Casady looks like its been wrapped in an aluminum skin!! But still sounds growlie.... I think manny might have bought more than one....anyone know the story on what he's doing with them...
