Way to go guys. Big help.
Hard segue anyone?

Had to v alidate my information as best as possible. Maybe they have had experiences they could share to validate their opinions with pictures perhaps?

I have no opinion on Smith basses, and don't believe I've ever implied same.

To me, the way the neck felt in my hands and the way the body felt when I had to stand up with it for a while was always a major factor in how I felt about a bass. I want a bass to sound good obviously, but if it felt outstanding that would be 75% of it for me and I would look hard at changing the pickups or pre before giving up on the bass.
I love Smiths, really REALLY love the ebony boarded 6's, but if I felt the pre wasn't 'doing it all' for me I would just throw in a Pope or an East and put the original in the case or a dresser drawer or something. I wouldn'y give up on that bass because I wasn't thrilled with all of the pre's settings - there are just too many wonderful pre's out there for a relatively small amount of money.

Why in the name of all that is holy, you say? This a country music video played with a modulus bass. Apologies to OP for going off on tangent, or irrelevance.

Who cares what you think? The subject was the versatility of a Ken Smith bass, and being able to mimic the sounds of other basses. Try to remember!
