The bass is the original finish white, which now has a yellow tint. I was thinking of removing/stripping off the finish, possibly stain, and have an oil finish rather than repaint. Can anyone here tell me what the body is made of and has anyone here ever seen one done in an oil finish. Some woods just don't look right bare, they need to be painted. Anyone have pictures of an oil (stained?) finished Forum I? Thanks!

| | | | Kramers from this time that were originally solid finish's generally don't look that good when stripped and stained, as the core is usually very "white" maple, and the sides are much much darker. I've seen a few pop up on Ebay, and yep, they end up looking kind of like what Amimbari posted - mis matched wood.

| | | I went pawn shop huting yesterday for some cheap thrills and found this Kramer Focus 420S for $49.00. The neck was in dire need of adjustment, the strings were rusted and it needed a string tree. Some polish, a screw, a washer, a set of heavy strings strings and an hour with some allen wrenches and this plywood P is NICE! Sounds just like a P should sound. Light too. I didn't expect it to even really be playable but I'm taking it to band rehearsal tonight. She's led a rough life and deserves a night out. |

It fits perfectly visually in my 80s-alternative-new wave cover band, and comes in handy when we get crammed onto a tiny stage. Here's a shot from a recent show:

| | | Looks great! I always thought a White duke would fit that especially well. Want a number? Your #93 if you don't already have one.
@ Mike, you can stay, you've posted in this thread/owned enough that you are still an honorary member.

| | | Finally picked up my first kramer, a '79 dmz6000. Absolutely love it. Bought off a single owner and It's officially got a home in the permanent collection. The other pic is for a kramer for sale near my work, but I'm having a real hard time getting a positive ID. It's got the cheaper bridge on it, and the pickup configuration seems odd. Any help with this would be appreciated. |

A vintage Kramer aluminum neck in good playing condition with no serious issues is definitely worth $600, regardless of the modification this one seems to have received.

| | | | I'm thinking it was some factory custom order, definitely looks original. If I hadn't just bought a '79 dmz6000 a couple weeks ago (and I got a hell of a deal on it) I probably would've broke down and offered $550 for this be. |

If I knew you were going to pass (and if I had the scratch, which I don't), I would have looked into the other bass myself!

Are the wooden pickup rings still intact?
