Jb2 pu's are single coil. I never had a problem with excessive noise. I have a tribute jb2 which I love.

L-2000 wins for sure. Plays nice and tons of varieties in tone.

As the owner of both an american made L2000 and a MIM Fender Jazz, I'd say save yur money and go with the MIM. Both are fine basses but if your buying new, I think the MIM edges out the G&L.Yes, even the sacred american made one. I owned an older SB2 that I recently sold. It was was of the finest basses I had ever owned. Todays G&L basses are less and less the premier bass that it used to be. Today, the Fender bass is the bass to buy. The pickups on the bass I now own are really nice. I don't think I'd change them for anything else because the sought after "Growl" is there. Automatic. No fuss. Plenty of "oomff" too.

Not sure how a L2000 Swiss Army Knife Bass can compare to a meat and potatoes passive JB-2 or MIM Jazz anyway.
My preference , Tribute JB2 , hot pickups , 6 Bolt neck , Saddle Lock Bridge , not turning up to a gig with a Standard J .................

If you get the Fender I advise a pickup switch pronto. I put Aguilar's in a jazz that I was planning to sell just because I thought I might be able to use it like that till the sale, but as soon as they were put it I took it right off craigslist. I like the G&L L2000's I've played though, although I haven't played a Jb-2.

I own a L2500 and an MIM Fender V and I have to agree. The range of tone on the G&L is what sells it for me. Plus I love the fatter G&L neck. The Fender Jazz neck is my least favorite neck. Plus, getting THE tone out of the G&L just took some experiments with brands of strings. On the Fender it only started sounding good after a LOT of work including changing to SCN pickups. I vote G&L even for the JB2.

Kind of apples and oranges to me. The g and l's may be built better, but the fender may sound the best to you.

I like the JB2 - own 2 USA's (one will be for sale soon). I dig the single coil sound but Fender j's are kinda big bodied. The JB2 is pretty much a smaller bodied jazz.
