Lakland 55-64 P Bass
What's up guys! I went out looking around for a new 5 string yesterday and ran across the Lakland 55-64 vintage 5 string P-bass. I wasn't considering a P-bass initially but the more that I played it the better it felt...It also sounded amazing!
I wanted to see if anyone out in TB land owns one of these & could share their experiences and/or thought?
Yep, I love mine!
Plays great, sounds great. The B is tight thanks to the 35" scale. Great sound recorded. Haven't tried it in an ensemble setting yet.
FYI, Bass Central is selling these for $1,099 shipped through the end of December.
That is the exact setup that I played...vintage - maple neck - off white pick guard. It looks great as well. Thanks for the feedback!
That's a great price as well! I'll check it out, thanks!
I have two Lakland basses and love them. I'd love to have a Lakland P bass to replace my Fender Am Std P5, but don't want to fool with the hassle of selling my Fender P.
I have 3 Lakland 55-64 basses (2 US and 1 Skyline) and love them all!
the vintage pickup sounds very much like a fralin pickup....I have this in my LOG bass (Skyline P bass) and in my new US 5564 PJn (pictured in my avatar)
The fit and finish on my LOG bass is top notch!
Here are a few sound clips of my US PJ...may sound a bit different due to the PJ configuration (V/V/T/T) but you will get the idea:

When you say "vintage" I assume you mean the vintage pickup....there is also a neopunch which is a bit more modern sounding...
Thanks for the sound clips, basspraiser! What kind of strings do you have on that PJ?
They are Sadowsky black labels... LOVE them....there is a set on my PJ and another on my MK Dragonfly (slightly lower gage).....
had Lakland stainless on it prior...they sounded good as well.
