The 5501 you can get in the 600 range. But, I would recommend trying to get the 5502. The 5501 is a fantastic bass, but I'd make the jump.

the necks and bodies are the same....the difference is in the pre-amp and pickups....the 55-02 has more variety in potential tones, but there is a huge 55-01 follwoing here on TB....
