Show em off! I realize some of 'em will all be identical but I can look at thousands of pictures of this bass for hours! This bass is awesome, for sure...
All DJ's 4 & 5 welcome!
Here's mine (J-retro on ): |

| | | Hmm, it's interesting to see how many club branches Lakland has here!
Please count me in as #2.
It's been about half a year since I got her, but I'm STILL in the honeymoon phase. I'd gotten so used to my first bass (trashy squier) that the DJ must have been too high class for me.
Needless to say, I'm starting to love the thing more and more each day, and the Squier is starting to feel unwieldy now. And that's a hard thing to do, considering how worn-in shoes ALWAYS feel so much better.
My DJ came with that pearloid guard stock, and it's realllly heavy (11.5 lbs.)
However, I still couldn't pass up on it. It was the last Korean-made of that type at Bass Central, and I just had to grab it.
I was planning on *gasp* modding it this summer, but never got to find the time for it.....
I WILL make it perfect by next year... just you wait.. |

| | | In October I´m going to need a number
I would ask for a reservation number but
it would not be fair for older DJ owners.
See you in October

Nice basses!
Can you tell me the difference between a DJ neck and
5-94 neck?
Thanks!

All of Lakland's 5 string basses have the same neck profile, aside from the DJ5. IMO the DJ5 feels slightly thinner front to back than the others, and the fretboard radius is 12". The other basses have a 10" to 13" compound radius neck.
IMO the differences between the necks are large enought to be noticeable, but I have no preference either way -- they're both great. I just play the DJ5 more with my band because it suits the music a little better. |

Ive had my DJ5 for just over a week now. Played two gigs with it and the neck is just comfortable (as im sure we all know).
Much more playable than my Fender P5. I think the smaller fret wire used helps.
This is it as it is now but i hope to have a black scratch plate on it very soon.

PLEASE show off your bass again when you get the black pickguard. I think it might be might dream bass. (This week, anyway...)

Anyway, club numbers will be given according to pic post position, just the #1 which obviously will be Mr. Darryl Jones.

These shots were taken quickly just after i got it but it is indeed a very nice looking bass.
The sparkle works great under stage lighting. Not quite as nice as my old CAR Duck Dunn but i prefer black.

Wonder if this will force Lakland to stop production. I doubt it, though. Guess all they have to do is work on renaming it, then. |
