Figured since I was logged into photobucket to post the HB pole example...might as well post the other two in the Lakland family
Soon they will have a new brother

I think your Bridge dark star is backwards. Wonder if turning it around would alter the tone. Feeling adventurous?

They did the install on the one I have too.
Weird?
That is interesting. I have more anecdotal info on this.

With two-pickup Lakland basses with Dark Stars (Decades and HBs), the placement has typically been as it is with your HB--they face opposite ways. My HB is a Skyine, but it was originally owned by a lady who worked for Lakland in marketing, so she may have gotten a custom placement.

Now, I had a Skyline Glaub with a DS, and it was positioned with the pole pieces towards the bridge. But my US Dunn with DS has the pole pieces towards the neck. Then again, that bass, too was originally owned (and built) by a Lakland employee, one of the luthiers, so he may have positioned it to his liking as well.

hmmmmmm? Not sure if THAT is bad or good? :P

Hey Bartski, just through caution to the wind and DO IT!
You will not regret it.
A stealth black HB with ebony board and all black hardware would be insanely hot!!
Especially if along the way ya score a set of Mint Darkstars and install those in it. WOW!

Hello, just checking in. Haven't spoken to you all in yonks.
I come back, and what do I find? The LOG has turned into the Hollowbody Appreciation Society.
But I agree that a stealth hollowbody would look AMAZING. Do it. Wear it, a sharp suit, and sunglasses, and ladies will remove their clothing for you - on command.

Possibly...

In other news, I've decided that it's impossible to make a Darryl Jones sound bad. I just played along to a Queen + Paul Rodgers live concert, with a signal chain consisting of the Darryl Jones (with almost completely dead steel roundwounds) into a crappy-wappy almost totally broken 10-watt Kustom practice amp, into a set of lower-mid-priced Sennheiser headphones. And it sounded immense.

I don't understand how Lakland do it. I just don't. But I love them for it!

Anyways,

Cheers,
SoundSupport

I think I'm officially the only guy in the universe who gets all 'meh' over the hollowbody.

Teaser pics of my US 44-70 in-progress. Heading for a trans-white finish and maple board. Waiting is agony.

Have all of you played one for a good period of time? I have to be honest... I like my single coil one way more than the humbucker one I had. This one's a keeper!
