She was wearing flats for the longest time and it sounded KILLER...and then I decided to throw a set of Rotosound swing 66 nickles on her and bam! THAT is a good sounding bass! Changing from flats to rounds has given me room to tweak the bass a little bit, bring the action down...which I haven't done yet but today is my day off so there's a good chance it'll happen soon.
As long as I find a box for the body, the bass gets sent off today! I hope a refin doesn't take TOO dang long, I likely won't see the shortie in all her glory until next year, but I feel it'll be worth the wait. Quote:

I used those strings a lot over time, great strings.
Looking forward to seeing it when it is completed... Quote:

Attachment 305670 | Did you have an issue getting the US tuners to fit? I thought there was a thickness difference that made replacing those a bit of a chore. |

This is the second skyline I have replaced them on, I find the licensed fine but definitely looser. And I like the drop tuner but hate them to not all match.

However, changing to the Hipshot HB1 Tuning. Machines on a Lakland Skyline 4-String Series are what present the real challenge - though not impossible. This is because the Tuning.Machine holes are closer together which prevents a "Drop-In" solution. I personally enjoyed the challenge making this work. Enlarging the holes was required. However the HB1s also required modification of three of the base plates as they are about 1/16" too big and will not work as shipped.
It was a fun project and worth it. I prefer the look of the smooth round bezels on the front face of the head. I also like challenges.
