Nice. Though I think it would look better with same headstock as the Hollowbody.

I'm digging this.
Would love a 34" scale of this bass.

an official Lakland Facebook page post @ 1:30 CDT:

"We will be debuting our new Skyline Hollowbody 30 and our new Skyline 44-01 & 55-01 Deluxe Spalts at NAMM next week. The short scale (30") Hollowbody is a sweet little instrument, and the spalts look unbelievable!
Pricing TBA"

That is worth looking at. A SS Lakland is right up my alley.

I got to see (with my fingers) the prototype back in Oct, and I've been biting my tongue ever since. Very unique, reminiscent of a hofner without being beholden to that vibe. I'm still keeping mum on what they were hoping to get the price point at, but if they meet it, you will be pleasantly shocked.

Totally different approach BTW, yet honestly one of the very best hollows (the one you, Yuppy, pictured, and that's already on sale) out there.
To me, way better than a Spectorcore: I tried'em out both. Usual bottom line is the streetprice of Lakland's in general, and, unfortunately, even Indo Skylines in particular.

Look at Spalted Maple top: one more proof of its provenience
out of the Cort Indo facility. Now: how come they're so pricer?

Cheers,
Wallace

I'm holding out on a hofner violin to get more info on that hollowbody. Anyone at NAMM care to pass some info along?

Pretty cool. If Lakland makes it at least it might actually play well, unlike other shortscales.

I've found the spalted maple models for sale; $870 and $900. Still trying to find out more about the hollow body

Any more news on these? Nothing on the website, nothing on the web, just nothing.

I can't be the only person interested in these.

For a bit it looked like there were going to be two short scale hollow bodies coming this year. Now it's looking like the Starfire isn't going to be widely available til Fall or late Fall, and the Lakland sometime between Tuesday and never.
