Question Lakland Skyline 44-02 (Barts), no serial number?

I just bought a Lakland Skyline 44-02 on eBay, and I can't find a serial number on the bass. Is this common? The bass has Bartolini pickups, has "Skyline" printed on the front of the headstock, and it has elephant-ear Hipshot tuners. Is the serial number typically on the headstock somewhere? Thanks for any help.

If it's the natural 44-02 that sold on ebay, it looks legit. Should have the number stamped on the edge of the head where the tuners are.

It really doesn't look like there has been any sanding on the head stock - don't know if the picture is clear enough.

Yeah my 44-02 has the serial on the headstock. Might be a replacement neck.

That seems very unlikely.

The Skyline 5501 I bought roughly 12 years ago used on the Bay had Gotoh tuners and the serial number was on a sticker on the back of the headstock. Could be this was the same and was taken off. Don't know what year they switched to the elephant tuners

I didn't know Lakland had used stickers for serial numbers on Skylines - that could explain the lack of a serial number. Thanks for the info!
