Les Paul 5?

Who's got experience? String spacing? Number of frets? Are these variable between makers? I know neck dive would be an issue but I really dig the look and am starting to have GAS pain.

I have an Epiphone Les Paul 5 string. 19mm string spacing and 22 frets. I really like the look of this bass! Just so cool. Neck dive is not an issue. It balances just fine on the strap.

Very tight spacing on all of the LP5 basses I have owned/played.

Frets were 21 I believe. Definitely not 24.

Damn! I dig tight spacing but that doesn't give me the frets I need. 17 mm floats my boat as does 24 frets.

I've posted it a few times before but here goes anyway... I made my own... mahogany single piece of wood for the whole instrument (no glue joints except for fretboard). ebony fretboard, 35 scale, 22 frets, bartolini 2volume 2tone passive electronics, hipshot hardware with 0.728 spacing (around 17mm I believe). Oh and LEDS. No neck dive on mine, got lucky with a light piece of lumber, give or take 8 to 8.5 pounds.

I have the Epi 5er as well. Great looking bass, plays nice, sounds great with the stock pups. Slight neck dive issue - it balances but feels a little neck heavy. Also, the TOM bridge had flattened over time, making even action impossible so I'm on the hunt for a replacement or retrofit options.

That's one of the most beautiful basses I've ever seen.

I've got a 1994 Les Paul LPB-3 Premium Top 5 string. The bridge setup is not the narrow style like the old Gibson V I used to have. It appears to have a Warwick bridge on it. Active Bartolini pickups on this bass as well and NO pickup switch!!
