My P bass. The body is made out of some weird wood that I can't remember the name of.
It's so soft I could literally gouge out chunks of wood with my nails.

My smallest textbook from school probably weighs more than it.

Same here. Many years ago, at Huber & Breese. I only mention that because the 2nd lightest bass I remember playing was a Fodera at the same store.

Either an early ibanez sr300 with mahognay body or traben array with royal palwonia body.

Outside of a cheap-o Steinberger that probably weighed about 5 or 6 lbs, I owned a US Masters EP42 with a one-piece solid mahogany body that weighed under 7 lbs.

Great tone, but the neck profile was a little unconventional.

I've got a solidbodied parts jazz bass that weighs just at 5 pounds. the secret: it's a paulownia body.

I was shocked. Think it was an Emperor(?). I'm not up on the Fodera models. Same body style as VW bass.

My Squier Mike Dirnt Signature weighs a mere 6.5 pounds, and sounds just as good as any of my more expensive basses.

the lightest bass i personally played was an ibanez sr505 at the local guitar center. the body was paper thin and extremely comfotrable. as for tone and all that fun stuff it was nice but for that price id rather go with something else.

Isn't the Dan Electro longhorn bass made out of plywood and is as light as a giraffe's fart? I own an Ibanez Explorer bass that weights almost nothing compared to my Gibson Flying V and Les Paul basses that weigh me down, way down.

Sadowsky NYC Standard 5 - 7.9 lbs. The Tune Bass Maniac I used to have was 7.2 lbs but that was a 4-string and I only play 5'ers now.

Lightest would definately be my Jay Turser 5 string I converted into a fretless. I think the body is made out on bass wood. Very light!
