Only reason why I don't have that...

Is because I ain't even knew you, when time was right!

Cheers,

Have you tried offering them a lower price? Or maybe something in trade?

If it plays good, snatch it up. I personally don't care for jazz necks, I like the feel of a P neck, so for me, this would be a great players bass...but I wouldn't feel good walking out with it having spent more than $1200.

So I finally went and played it... eh.

Heavy as ****. Neck was good and in nice condition but it looks to have been lacquered as there was irregular finish along the edges of the fretboard and a glossy fingerprint between two frets. Body was relatively unimpressive, originally black, stripped and 'finished' poorly. Holes around the bridge were filled unevenly with wood putty. Guessing some of the electronics were not original as the tone was way too bright regardless of tone knob position.

The shop didn't seem to know too much about it but claimed the neck was an '82 and the body and guts were all original '69. I was hoping to encounter a salesperson who would know more about the bass than I do. Nope.

The kicker for me was the Precision neck on the Jazz body... I thought I'd like it. I didn't.

If I found this thing in a pawn shop for $100 THEN we'd have a good TalkBass thread.

Thanks to everyone for the input and advice.

Cool bass I love P-Necks on Jazz bodies.
The early 82 RI necks are nice.
Buy it, If you don't like it sell it to me?
