No, my screen name is derived from two of the bands that started my career. Goldfinger and New Found Glory, and the #18 is the number I've carried my whole soccer career.

Mine is purely sentimental, as I've played and owned better since then. None of the basses since have shared the staged with some of my favorite bands, nor traveled with me for 5+ years, nor was my pillow in the middle of LaGuardia Airport because the band got kicked out of our hotel one night early and didn't have enough money for a place to stay.
THAT's why I want her back.....

It's a 1984 Modulus Graphite custom built 5 string with Alembic Spoiler electronics-my Jimmy Johnson bass. I sold it on The Bottom Line (remember TBL?) to a bassist named Jim Viner in the Maryland area in 2002 when my Mom was first having problems with living by herself and I needed to raise money quickly for expenses for her care and my weekly plane tickets off the Road to Texas to help her out. It's been ten years and she's gone on now. I have from time to time contacted Jim (aka Jimbo on Bass on Myspace) but he hasn't decided to sell the bass back to me yet and now is hard to get in touch with (does anyone even GO to Myspace anymore?). Jimbo, if you're out here on Talkbass my offer still stands, let's talk! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4resEb5KU0g |

Mine:
1. A blue P bass with a rosewood board, stock. Sold it sometime in the mid '70s.
2. A burst fretless P with a maple board, modded with a DiMarzio pup and a phase switch. Sold it sometime (IIRC) in the early '80s.
Hey, near zero chance of those coming back, but sometimes I wish I'd kept 'em. |

THAT's why I want her back..... | Ah, now that's different. I feel like ever since I picked up that '63, the P has been a part of me. It has come to me in different tonal and visual clothing again and again, but somehow it feels like it's the very same bass. So in that sense, I never feel like it has or ever can leave me.
