| | | | Gasman Price range is $500-$600 maybe $700 but $700 needs to be a love at first sight. I want it Active, if it have EMG pickups better, 5 strings, nice look, neck through body. Thats why I pick the Thunderbird Pro V or the BC Rich Widow. The widow looks nice but it is spikey I dont know how hard is it, Thunderbird dont have spikes. |

If you move the strap button to the heel of the neck and use a good strap your fine. I have been playing almost nothing but Tbirds since '76. Every engineer I have ever worked with have loved my 'birds tone. Quote:

T birds however are fun basses when you sit down. but playing a 30-45 minute show with them sucks... Then if you are up on stage for an hour+ don't even get me started. They neck dive like crazy and they are hard to play standing up (well for me at least) and I'm 6'2... If you want a gigging bass steer away from the T bird. |

And yes I could move the strap button but I really love the way it is right now :P

it's lightweight, comes with EMG pick ups and Active EQ, should be able to get one for around $600, I believe I paid £500 for mine 3 years ago, but that's when they offered a black cherry finish, it's just charcoal right now http://www.beyondeleven.com/Cort-T75...t-t75-tcgw.htm http://www.cortguitars.com/en/product/t75

I have a custom one with Kent Armstrong Chrome Bars on it and it sounds great. I've used it in a metal band thats similar to While She Sleep/Architects & have done Parkway Drive covers with it. You'll notice a lot of metal bands with them now. |

My complaint was the weight. Can you get in a music store that has many Widow's to Sample??
Play a bunch of them looking for the lightest one. Try them with a strap and standing up. Don't be afraid to spend a few hours. Don't let the salesman "rush" you. I think the Widow would make a great Metal Bass. You just gotta find the "Perfect" one for you |

Are you familiar with Opeth? Jazz bass.
These guys come to mind as well: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mmg3jr7Bhfo
A Jazz bass absolutely looks and (especially) sounds metal.

Active EQ, 35" scale, most with Bartolini pickups, neck through construction, balance really nicely, nice wide neck for tech metal tappy stuff and slapping if you're into it...honestly it's the best bass that I've ever played for metal and one of my favorite basses of all time.
The pickups are like a jazz bass on steroids but the active EQ lends a lot more tone shaping capabilities than the standard passive jazz.

Active Jazz Basses are Very Versatile. There's nothing I can't play on My Jaguar bass which is basically a Jazz bass on Roids. Here's my Jaguar bass. http://www.ebay.com/itm/251182572396...84.m1555.l2649
You can pick up newer used ones for around $600. The only reason I'm selling mine is because I have a RIC on the way from Musicians Friend. I have used the Jaguar tuned down 1/2 Step and then "Drop D". Played a bunch of Creed songs and STP and it never missed a beat. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
