LOUD D String

Been loving my new bass, but one issue: a really loud string. A lot of Coheed songs require playing fifths, and the D string is always a LOT louder than the A. You only really notice it when you alternate strings, like: 5 on the A, 7 on D. Really hope it's nothing serious.. Anyone have a similar issue, or is this a nonissue?

And just what is your new bass? How do you play it?

Ok, I see it's a P/P bass. My guess is one of the pickups is tilted, so that one end of it is too close to the D string. If this is the case simply tighten the screw at that end of the pickup to lower it deeper into the body.

No, it would screw it down into the body.

Could just be a duff/uneven set of strings. If you have just bought it new then you may find the stock strings are cheap and nasty. It points to a pickup height or strings problem for me.

Could be a string height issue too? If put your eye near the body of the bass at the bridge, are all the strings the same height from the body?

Also, did you buy it new or secondhand? If it's secondhand you could have a different brand of D string.

Only if the pickups have mounting rings or bezels like many guitars do. This one doesn't.
